Storyteller Claire McNicol

Lisburn City Yarnspinners with Claire McNicol

Born in ’69, Claire was a child of the Troubles whilst simultaneously catching the last wave of the ’60’s, surfing all the way through the ’70’s in her velvet zip up jerkin and plaid trousers. A studious student at Wallace High School she has long since eschewed academia and is now fully committed to general eejitery.
If you enjoyed Kenneth Branagh’s BELFAST you are sure to love LISBURN, for as a promotional film for the town in the ’50’s quipped “Lisburn is not a lesser town, there are two roads out of Lisburn one leads to Dublin, the other to Belfast!”

Now based in Edinburgh, Claire has been telling stories since the age of 4 and has been steeped in the oral storytelling traditions of Scotland and Ireland for 30 years.
